02-16-2025 Winter Update

Hi Falcon Fans.  It has been a quiet fall and winter at Peregrine Central.  Our loyal pair have stayed close by. We see them in the nest box almost every day and some loyal fans check on them in person as well. The days are getting longer and the falcons know that it is time to start thinking about spring and family planning. They renew their bond with mutual bowing and sometimes touching beaks with each other in the box. I have not caught any food exchanges in a video but that is also a typical behavior that renews their bond.  You are likely to see one of them on the nest cam these days. When either of them is in the box, they frequently use their feet to create a shallow depression in the gravel, called a “scrape.” This is where the eggs will hopefully be laid this spring. There are a few videos clips that show one of both of the birds in the nest box.
